‘Minotauro’ Wants Frank Mir Fight Before Considering Retirement

During the UFC 190 post-fight press conference, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White told the media that he didn’t want to see Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira compete in the Octagon any longer and issued an invitation to work with the promotion in a role similar to post held by hall-of-famer Chuck Liddell.

An official commentator of the Combate television network in Brazil, “Minotauro” was the special guest of “Revista Combate,” which aired live Tuesday night. When asked by a fan via Twitter during the program, Nogueira confirmed the UFC’s employment opportunity but refused to announce his retirement.

“Dana showed interest to have me working for the UFC, finding new talent and also fostering relationships with athletes, which is something I already do,” said Nogueira on the program. “I immediately accepted, but I´ll keep on training and didn’t say anything about retiring.

“The fight has just finished and I'll see what I'm going to do,” Minotauro continued. “I love to train; I'm totally passionate for this camp atmosphere. Whenever people ask me what I like to do more, I always say that the training camp process is better than fighting. The self-improvement, the study. Waking up with goals on your mind.”

If Nogueira were to have his way, he would do one last match against Frank Mir, who knocked Nogueira out in 2008 and submitted him in 2011.

“That’s something I would love to do before retirement,” declared the former Pride Fighting Championships ace.
