Tuck submitted former Pride Fighting Championships and Shooto titleholder Takanori Gomi with a first-round rear-naked choke in the featured UFC Fight Night 111 “Holm vs. Correia” prelim on Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Gomi (35-13) tapped 72 seconds into Round 1, the Japanese legend suffering his fourth straight defeat.

A front kick to the body doubled over “The Fireball Kid” and cleared Tuck’s path. The 29-year-old Guam native backed Gomi to the fence and advanced to the back. He set one hook and then another before snaking his arms in place for the choke. Submission soon became Gomi’s only option.

Tuck (10-4) in victory threw the brakes on a two-fight losing streak.

Harris Shreds Overmatched Asker

Walt Harris blew away Cage Warriors Fighting Championship alum Cyril Asker in the first round of their preliminary heavyweight pairing. Asker (8-3) bit the dust 1:44 into Round 1, as he lost for the second time in three outings.

Harris (10-5) withstood a few power punches from the Frenchman and went to work. He sent Asker crashing to the canvas with a right hook and a short straight left, swooped into top position and cut loose with savage ground-and-pound. Punches came first and were followed by a burst of crushing elbows that prompted the stoppage.

Caceres Stops Debuting Dy

MMA Lab standout Alex Caceres turned away Rolando Dy in a preliminary featherweight clash. Referee Neil Swailes called for the stoppage in between the second and third rounds, his decision based on the advice of the cageside physician.

Caceres (13-10) did significant damage in the first round, where he buckled the Pacific Xtreme Combat veteran with a straight left. The blow compromised the vision in Dy’s right eye and left him vulnerable to subsequent attacks. Caceres circled to the back late in Round 1 and threatened with a rear-naked choke. Dy (8-5-1) was examined in the second round and again at the start of the third. It was then that Swailes made the decision to call, despite protests from Dy and his cornermen.

The victory put an end to a two-fight losing streak for Caceres.

Sasaki Choke Vanquishes Scoggins

Former Shooto Pacific Rim champion Yuta Sasaki submitted Justin Scoggins with a second-round rear-naked choke in an undercard tilt at 125 pounds. Scoggins (11-4) conceded defeat 3:19 into Round 2, as he lost for the fourth time in six outings.

Sasaki (20-4-2) fought through considerable difficulty. Scoggins executed a powerful suplex inside the first 10 seconds and later floored him with a left hand. The American Top Team rep moved to top position in the second round and appeared to be on his way to a two-rounds-to-none lead. Sasaki turned the tables, swept into mount and advanced to the back. Soon after, the choke was in place. Scoggins fought to free himself, but the squeeze proved too much to overcome.

Li Sinks Replacement Camacho

China Top Team export Jingliang Li claimed a unanimous verdict over onetime Pacific Xtreme Combat champion Frank Camacho in a preliminary welterweight encounter. All three cageside judges scored it for Li (13-4): 29-27, 28-27 and 29-27.

Camacho (20-5) dazed the Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt with a series of clubbing right hands in the first round. Li withstood the assault and gradually gained a foothold in the match. Operating behind a punishing jab, the 29-year-old mixed in lunging right hands and rolling lefts to keep Camacho guessing. However, a commitment to low kicks paved his way. Li battered the inside and outside of his opponent’s lead leg, chipping away at his base. By the time it was over, Camacho was clearly compromised and unable to mount a comeback.

Li has rattled off three consecutive victories.

Doane Volley Buries Kwak

Former King of the Cage and Tachi Palace Fights champion Russell Doane halted a four-fight losing streak and did so in decisive fashion, as he disposed of Kwan Ho Kwak with punches in the first round of their undercard pairing at 135 pounds. Kwak (9-2) bowed out 4:09 into Round 1.

Doane (15-7) bided his time and waited for an opportunity. Late in the first round, he backed Kwak to the fence with a clinch knee to the body and unloaded with punches. A sweeping left hook and a straight right hand dropped the Korean Top Team rep to a seated position at the base of the cage, and Doane closed the deal with unanswered punches.

Kwak, 27, remains winless in two starts inside the Octagon.

Unbeaten Inoue Downs Tomas

Blue-chip prospect Naoki Inoue kept his perfect professional record intact with a unanimous decision over former Universal Reality Combat Championship titleholder Carls John de Tomas in a preliminary flyweight affair. Inoue (11-0) swept the scorecards with identical 30-26 marks.

Tomas (6-1) was game but outmatched. Inoue was in charge from start to finish, proving himself superior in all phases. The 20-year-old assumed top position in all three rounds and transitioned from one submission to the next. Mounted triangles, rear-naked chokes and armbars were all in play. Inoue was particularly dominant in the second round, where he floated from one advantageous position to the next. Only the bell saved Tomas from being finished, as Inoue locked in an armbar in the waning moments of the middle stanza.

Pudilova Outduels Newcomer Kim

Lucie Pudilova won for the third time in four appearances, as she captured a unanimous verdict over promotional newcomer Ji Yeon Kim in a three-round undercard battle at 135 pounds. All three cageside judges scored it the same: 29-28 for Pudilova.

Kim (6-1-2) fought well in spurts, particularly in the second round. There, the former Deep Jewels champion staggered Pudilova with a sneaky right uppercut, pushed the pace and punched in combination. Kim’s efforts were not enough to net the desired result. Pudilova (7-2) changed gears in the third round, where she met her counterpart with a stifling clinch and threatened with a pair of standing guillotines.

The loss snapped Kim’s six-fight winning streak.
