Ian Heinisch to Fight Markus Perez for Vacant Middleweight Title at LFA 22

Legacy Fighting Alliance announced on Thursday it will venture into the mountains of Colorado on Sep. 8. LFA 22 will be held at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, just outside Denver, and is slated to be anchored by a showdown of unbeaten middleweight prospects.

Hometown fighter Ian Heinisch is set to collide with Brazilian Markus Perez in the headlining slot for the promotion’s vacant middleweight title. Heinisch (8-0) is a two-time Colorado state wrestling champion who was impressive in his promotional debut when he submitted Lucas Rota via key lock from scarf hold at LFA 10. Perez, also 8-0, has been dominating the regional opposition in his native land and holds wins over UFC veterans Ildemar Alcantara and Paulo Thiago.

The LFA 22 co-main event will see two-time TUF alum Gilbert Smith fighting for one last time when he takes on Andrew Kapel at welterweight. Maycee Barber will lock horns with fellow strawweight Mallory Martin as well.

LFA 22 will be televised live on AXS TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Additional bouts will be announced soon.
