Ex-Champ Ronda Rousey Discusses Final UFC Appearance During WWE Segment

Even in rare interviews since her last Octagon appearance, Ronda Rousey hasn’t spoken much about her 48-second knockout loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

That changed on Monday night, when the Olympic judoka discussed what could very well be her final UFC fight during a video segment on WWE Raw.

“I remember my last fight, walking away thinking ‘God hates me.’ I had nothing left in me,” Rousey said.

“My husband [Travis Browne] is amazing and he really brought me out of some tough times. He would just look at me and just say like, ‘You’re not only this. You’re more than just a fighter.’ That’s not a bad thing, that’s not something I should be ashamed of, it’s something that I should embrace and showcase to the world and that’s why I’m here.”

While Rousey hasn’t officially announced her retirement from mixed martial arts, she recently appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and said an Octagon return is “just as likely as me going back to the Olympics for another judo.”

Rousey announced her signing with the WWE in January and will make her in-ring debut for the sports entertainment organization at WrestleMania. “Rowdy” has previously stated that she plans to stick with her new endeavor for the long haul. While it can often be difficult to tell where reality ends and the story starts in the world of professional wrestling, it appeared that Rousey was being sincere about her happiness in the video package.

“I’m not afraid to care anymore,” Rousey said. “I needed to be miserable then to be truly happy now. It’s all led to this and I didn’t even realize that I’ve always been on this path.”

“I thought the Olympic gold medal was all I was ever gonna care about,” she added. “But life happens and things change. Then UFC was all I thought I was ever gonna care about. And then life happens and things change. Winning in WrestleMania, it feels like all I’ve ever cared about. I’ve been accumulating all the skills along the way to be the best at this. I was always meant to be on this stage. I was always meant to be at WrestleMania.”
