Charges in a felony battery case against Oezdemir were dropped on Monday in Broward Country (Fla.) court after the alleged victim failed to cooperate. As a result, the prosecution will no longer pursue the case. MMAFighting.com was first to report the news.

Oezdemir allegedly knocked a man unconscious outside a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., bar on Aug. 12. He was initially arrested on Nov. 19 and posted a $10,000 bond.

The alleged victim, Kevin Cohen, claimed that he was struck by Oezdemir and knocked unconscious for 14 minutes. Cohen was then transported to a hospital for multiple lacerations and concussion symptoms. Cohen exited the bar to check on another friend, Sergio Sandoval, who had also been allegedly knocked unconscious. Cohen claims that Oezdemir hit him when he inquired about what happened to his friend. Oezdemir’s attorney, Bruce A. Zimet, stated that his client was not the aggressor in the incident.

Zimet told MMAjunkie.com that Oezdemir was in court on Monday and “wants to move forward with his professional career.”

Oezdemir was supposed to face Mauricio Rua at UFC Fight Night 129 in Chile, but via issues as a result of the case forced the promotion to move the light heavyweight bout to UFC Fight Night 134 in Hamburg, Germany, on July 22. “No Time” was ultimately moved to UFC 227, where he will square off against Gustafsson in Los Angles on Aug. 4.

The 28-year-old Switzerland native last appeared at UFC 220, where he suffered a second-round TKO defeat to Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight title bout.
