UFC on Fox 30 Draws Lowest Overnight Rating in Series History

Ratings are not improving as the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s broadcast deal with Fox draws to a close.

Saturday’s UFC on Fox 30 card drew 1.461 million viewers, according to overnight ratings released via TV By the Numbers. That figure is the lowest since the Las Vegas-based promotion began airing cards on Fox in 2011. The final figures will be higher when factoring in viewers on the West Coast.

The previous low overnight rating occurred earlier this year, when a UFC on Fox 27 card headlined by Ronaldo Souza and Derek Brunson drew 1.59 million viewers to the network on Jan. 27.

UFC on Fox 30, which took place at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, featured a pair of promising all-action fights at the top of the card. In the main event, Dustin Poirier scored an entertaining second-round technical rematch against Eddie Alvarez, while ex-featherweight king Jose Aldo stopped Jeremy Stephens with a body shot and follow-up punches 4:19 into the opening round of the co-headliner. Former strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk was also on the main card, where she outpointed Tecia Torres in key 115-pound clash.

Despite the low ratings, UFC on Fox 30 did win the timeslot in the 18-to-49 demographic with a 0.6 share. However, the other major networks – NBC, CBS and ABC – were all showing reruns at the same time.
