Aussie Duo Tai Tuivasa, Tyson Pedro Both Sign New Six-Fight Contracts With The UFC

The current batch of Australians plying their trade in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is arguably the strongest ever, including current undisputed middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, women’s featherweight Megan Anderson, light heavyweight Tyson Pedro and heavyweight Tai Tuivasa.

Ariel Helwani of ESPN reported on Wednesday that Tuivasa and his brother-in-law Pedro have both signed new six-fight contracts for the promotion, a growing sign of the talent coming from Down Under.

The undefeated Tuivasa (8-0) is 3-0 in the UFC and is fast becoming a fan favorite with his down-to-earth personality and post-fight “shoey” celebration where he drinks from his shoe. He recently came off an impressive win over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski by unanimous decision at UFC 225. At 25 years old, Tuivasa has the potential to be a future champion in the sport. The 26 year-old Pedro (7-2) is 3-2 in the UFC and is coming off a submission loss to Ovince St. Preux at UFC Fight Night back in June. Pedro has finished his opponents in each of his seven wins and brings some new blood to a light heavyweight division which is currently going through a transition period.
