On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued by the Shreveport Police Department charging Donny Aaron with one count of domestic battery abuse and one count of false imprisonment. Aaron allegedly choked Lee and attempted to put a cigarette out on her arm in the couple’s Shreveport, La., home earlier this month.

Lee issued a statement via Twitter, thanking everyone for their support while asking that her privacy be respected until the situation is resolved. Lee, who made her Octagon debut in May, added that she is eagerly anticipating her next fight.

“I want to thank everyone for their support and kind words over the past week. Every post, tweet, comment does not go unnoticed. My family and I are handling this situation to the best of our ability, as this is a very sensitive issue and one that as a public figure I wish was not taking place in a public forum,” she wrote.

“I respectfully ask that everyone respects our privacy at this time as we work toward resolutions and closure. I look forward to returning to the Octagon and resuming my winning ways in the near future. Competing has always been a sanctuary for me and brings great joy to my life.”

Aaron has not yet been arrested, and authorities believe that he is somewhere in Georgia. His bond is set at $2,500. Lee and Aaron have been married for approximately five years and have a daughter together. MMA fighter Andy Nguyen, who lives with the couple, said in a statement to police that the domestic violence “has been going on for years.”
