The Ultimate Fighting Championship was all set for a barn burner of a fight between Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz at UFC 230 on Nov. 3rd in New York City. However, the bout will not go ahead due to an injury suffered by Poirier in the lead up to the fight.

Poirier’s opponent for the fight, Diaz, also withdrew from the card after refusing to take on a replacement. It is the 24th change to a UFC co-main or main event this year, with a number of high-profile events still to come.

Poirier posted a statement on Twitter regarding his withdrawal from UFC 230 mentioning he’ll be going to a specialist in regards to his injury, which remains unspecified, and thanked his fans.

“Small setbacks happen.. I’m flying out to LA next week to get a second opinion on my injury and I’ll have an idea of when I can return to compete, I can’t wait to get back in the Octagon!! Thank you all for the support ”
