T.J. Dillashaw Boasts of 'Killing' UFC Flyweight Division; Henry Cejudo Hints At Free Agency

Next January’s Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight title fight between champion Henry Cejudo and his bantamweight challenger T.J. Dillashaw could be the last of its kind.

Both men appeared on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show and offered a bleak assessment regarding the future of the promotion’s 125 pound division after UFC 233, with Dillashaw bluntly stating that the title fight will end the division.

"They paid me a f*ck ton of money to kill the division," Dillashaw said.

Cejudo told Helwani that he would like a trilogy bout with the former UFC flyweight king Demetrious Johnson after he defied the odds by beating “Mighty Mouse” in August in a razor-thin split decision. "I still feel like there's a trilogy between Henry Cejudo and Demetrious Johnson. I see that playing out sometime in the future."

Johnson recently signed a lucrative deal with One Championship and Cejudo was asked if a trilogy fight with “Mighty Mouse” were to happen, what promotion would it be.

"That is to be announced," Cejudo said.

A number of the UFC’s 125-pounders have already announced their release or their impending move to bantamweight. It leaves Cejudo in an unusual place, having only recently signed a six-fight deal with the UFC.

“I think everything changes once they dismiss the flyweight division, if that's going to be the plan,” Cejudo said. “I believe there's free agency in there, possibly. I believe the contract is signed at 125 pounds."
