Nate Landwehr believes he saved career at UFC Fight Night 195

LAS VEGAS – Nate Landwehr is convinced his back was against the wall entering UFC Fight Night 195, and the featherweight fighter believes he saved his job with his submission win over Ludovit Klein at Saturday’s event.

Landwehr (15-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) had a hard-fought battle with Klein before sinking in an anaconda choke in the third round of their contest. The victory put Landwehr back in the win column after a knockout loss to Julian Erosa in February.

“Definitely, definitely (was worried about losing my job),” Landwehr told reporters at the UFC Fight Night 195 post-fight news conference. “I got finished twice, and if I lost another one, I’m gone. They’re not keeping nobody around at 33. Why would they keep me around?

“That’s why I love my job. You have to prove yourself every time. This is no job security. You go out there and win fights, or you’re gone. You either go out there and perform, or you’re gone. We’re not normal people. We ain’t got no retirement. We put it on the line, and that’s the way I roll. I’m ready to put it all on the line every time. That’s me.”

Landwehr revealed he teamed up with MMA Masters in Miami for the training camp against Klein. He also told the media that the game plan for the fight was simple.

“Man, the new game plan is as long as I don’t get beat up, I’m probably going to win,” Landwehr explained. “As long as I don’t lose, I’m probably going to win. That’s it. Don’t lose, and you’re going to win.”
