While Machida initially was told his light-heavyweight bout didn't have title implications at UFC on FOX 4, UFC President Dana White later opened it up to the former champ and his opponent, Ryan Bader. Machida capitalized in a big way.

In a bout with title implications, along with the main event to come after it, Lyoto Machida made a big statement, knocking Bader out at 1:32 of the second round.
The light heavyweight fight served as the co-main event of Saturday's UFC on FOX 4 event at Staples Center in Los Angeles. It aired on FOX following prelims on FUEL TV.

After all, that's the requirement that was laid out by UFC president Dana White in putting UFC on FOX 4's co-main event in the title run alongside a headliner between Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Brandon Vera.
As Bader today told MMAjunkie.com White's challenge will give him extra motivation when he steps in the cage against the ex-champ.

Today during a press conference in support of UFC 140, Jones' eyes widened at UFC president Dana White's mention of Evans and a recent proclamation of having the champ's number.
But it's Lyoto Machida who is next, and Jones said it would be unwise to take his eye off the immediate task ahead.
